GUERNSEY – The Lingle-Fort Laramie High School girls’ basketball team swept Guernsey-Sunrise and Morrill, Neb., on Friday, Jan. 24 and Tuesday, Jan. 28.
On Friday, the Lady Doggers limited the Guernsey Lady Vikings to no more two points per quarter in a 55-7 victory.
L-FL raced out to a 14-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, and the Lady Dogger lead ballooned to 41-3 at the half.
In the second half, Lingle kicked in the running clock rule in the third quarter as the Lady Dogger lead reached 41 in the opening seconds of the third quarter.
In all, 12 L-FL players cracked the scoring column in the win. Senior Ashley Riley led the team with 17 points, while Kelcie Sargent added eight.
On Tuesday, the Lady Doggers were back on the road, stepping out of the state of Wyoming to face the Morrill Lady Lions.
A 21-point fourth quarter lifted Lingle to a 52-44 victory.
The Lady Doggers led 8-5 after one, and the teams traded buckets in the second quarter, leaving L-FL with a three-point lead at the half.
Coming out of the break, Morrill managed to take a 32-31 lead into the final eight minutes.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Doggers outscored Morrill 21-12 to pull away for the victory.
Riley led the team with 25 points, while Sargent and sophomore Tiah Meyer added nine each.
The Lady Doggers (7-6) hosts Glenrock on Friday for a 5:30 p.m. matchup and Pine Bluffs on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
