LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie High School girls’ basketball team split the last two games, defeating Guernsey-Sunrise 56-24 on Friday but falling to Morrill, Neb. 63-24 on Tuesday.

In the win over the Lady Vikings, L-FL sophomore Kamryn Rafferty lead the way with 14 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Natalie Speckner added 10 points. Senior Kaylie Rafferty and junior Makenzie Vaughn had eight points apiece.

On Tuesday, the Lady Doggers fell behind 5-0 to the visiting Lions before Kaylie Rafferty put the L-FL on the scoreboard midway through the opening quarter.

The three-point deficit proved to be as close as Lingle came to seeing the lead the entire night.

Trailing 13-6 in the final minute of the first, the Doggers allowed Morrill to go on a 17-4 run, pushing the Lady Lion lead to 30-10.

The Morrill lead continued to grow, as the Lady Lions only allowed the L-FL to score three points in the third quarter.

With 4:52 left in the game, a Morrill 3-pointer pushed the Lady Lion lead to 57-16, kicking in the running clock rule for the remainder of the game.

Sophomore Baylee Skinner led the Lady Doggers with eight points, while junior Madison Heilburn added five.

The Doggers (3-7) travel to Glenrock (2-7) on Friday for a 5:30 p.m. contest and hosts Pine Bluffs (4-6) on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. matchup.
