LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie High School volleyball team went 1-4 last week with the team’s lone win coming on Friday evening against the Niobrara County High School, 3-1 (21-25, 25-11, 25-21, 25-15).

The Lady Doggers raced out to a 7-1 lead, but as quickly as LFL’s lead was built, the visiting Lady Tigers made it disappear.

NCHS scored nine straight points to take a 10-7 lead, before a Baylee Skinner kill slowed the Lady Tiger run.

Unfortunately for Lingle, they saw a brief 19-18 lead late in the set, but NCHS scored the seven of the final nine points to take a 1-0 lead.

Lusk kept the momentum on its side to start the second set, scoring the first two points, but senior Tiah Meyer put the Lady Doggers in front with a pair of kills.

The Meyer points sparked a rally, allowing LFL to score eight straight points to give the Lady Doggers a 12-4 lead. From there, Lingle cruised to a set win to tie the match at one.

The third set was a carbon copy of the first, as the Lady Doggers raced out to a 5-2 lead, but Lusk battled back to take a 15-11 lead.

Sophomore Natalie Speckner’s kill started the Lady Dogger rally. Lingle regained the lead at 19-18 courtesy of back-to-back kills from senior M’Lynn Hill. LFL closed out the set on a 8-3 spurt.

In the final set, Lingle grabbed a 5-1 advantage and never trailed to close out the victory.
