Lady Blazers winless at regionals

WHEATLAND – The Torrington High School volleyball team saw its season come to a close on Saturday.

The Lady Blazers dropped both of their matches at the 3A East Regional Volleyball Tournament hosted by Wheatland High School.

On Friday afternoon, Torrington opened the weekend with a 3-0 loss to the Buffalo Lady Bison.

Buffalo defeated Torrington 25-10, 25-9, 25-9.

Senior Marissa Moorehouse led the Lady Blazers with four kills, while senior Kayla Dreiling had three. Dreiling also had the team’s lone solo block, while junior Alyssa Albaugh and sophomore Olive Osmera had one assisted block each. Albaugh recorded 19 digs, while Moorehosue had 14. Senior Jade Brothwell had six assists.

The loss dropped the Lady Blazers to a must-win game in the double-elimination format bracket against the Moorcroft Lady Wolves on Saturday.

Torrington kept the match close throughout, but Moorcroft topped the Lady Blazers 25-19, 25-18, 25-22.

Albaugh led the team with seven kills and four solo blocks, while Moorehouse had five kills, two blocks and 24 digs. Osmera also had two solo blocks, along with one assisted block. Senior Kalissa Reyes had 13 assists.

The Blazers season ends with a 5-26 record.
