Lady Blazers rally in five-set win

RIVERTON – The Torrington Lady Blazers had a back-and-forth affair on the road Friday in Riverton, dropping the second and third sets to fall behind 2-1, before rallying to win the match in five sets.
Torrington picked up the opening set 25-20. The Lady Outlaws turned things around over the next two sets, beating Torrington 25-18 and 25-11. With their backs against the wall, the Lady Blazers picked up the fourth set by a narrow margin, 25-22. In the fifth set, Torrington continued their momentum, winning 15-9.

The Lady Blazers served at 90 percent, with Taylor Walsh racking up the aces, with five of the team’s 12. Walsh also had a big impact in the back line, amassing 14 digs. Katelynn Wright and Brooklyn Tucker combined for another five aces. The duo also added 18 of Torrington’s 20 assists in the win.
Leading the team in digs was Adia Sherbeyn, with 22. She paired her team-high digs with 10 kills and an ace. Logan Murphy was just ahead of Sherbeyn in kills (15), but just behind her teammate in digs (18). Murphy also added two blocks and an ace to her stat line.
Nakalyn Garner and Paige Miller combined for 12 kills and three blocks. Garner also kicked in a dig.
Torrington improved to 3-5 on the season, with a 1-0 record in the quadrant. The Lady Blazers return to competitive action Friday and Saturday at the Rawlins Tournament. Things kick off at noon on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday.
