TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School girls’ soccer team picked up its second 3A East Conference win in a row with a 4-0 victory over the Douglas Bearcats.
It didn’t take long for the Lady Blazers to get on the scoreboard when senior Morgan Bates found the back of the net on an assist from senior Kameron Stitt in the second minute.
The score remained 1-0 throughout the remainder of the half until the 38th minute when Stitt made it 2-0, winning the one-on-one battle with the Douglas goalkeeper.
The Lady Blazers added two more goals in the span of two and a half minutes.
In the 52nd minute, Stitt slipped past the Douglas defensive line and found herself in a one-on-one situation again, ultimately scoring her second goal of the game.
Not long after that, Torrington sophomore Jade Brothwell netted her first goal of the season in the 54th minute.
Neither team found the back of the net again over the final 26 minutes of the match.
The win moved the Lady Blazers to 4-4 overall on the season and 3-2 in the 3A East Conference.
Torrington hosts Buffalo (5-3-1 and 4-1-1) on Friday. Action gets underway at 3 p.m., and the team will honor their seniors during the match.
