WORLAND – The Torrington High School girls’ golf team repeated as conference champions in 2018.
Lady Blazer Caleigh Essert dominated the two-day tournament.
She shot a 79 on day one and a 76 on day for a 155. No one else shot better than a 92 for the weekend. Buffalo’s Darian Mehling was a distant second with a 184.
Jade Reinhardt and Kaylee Wilson tied for ninth with a 210, while Laura Halley was 10th with a 212. Jenna Kaufman was 16th with a 239.
As a team, Torrington shot a 569, while Riverton was second with a 605. Douglas was third with 659.
In the boys’ division, senior Jordan Malm finished third with a 162, only one stroke back of second.
Malm was the lone Blazer in the top 10.
Thomas Herron placed 25th with a 212, while Ryder Hackbarth was 28th with a 227. Bodie Herring came home 32nd with a 254.
As a team, the Blazers finished sixth with a weekend total of 850. Worland won the team title with 634, while Riverton was second with 720. Douglas was third with 738.
Torrington heads to the Class 3A State Tournament Friday and Saturday in Riverton. Action gets underway at 9 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.
