DOUGLAS – The Torrington High School golf team returned to the links Thursday and Friday at the Douglas Community Golf Club.

This time, it was the Lady Blazers making their season debut, finishing third as a team.

Jade Reinhardt led the way with an eighth-place finish, while Sydney Eaton came home 10th.

Reinhardt shot a 208 on the weekend with a pair of 104 rounds, while Eaton shot a 110 and 108 for a total of 218. Jenna Kaufman shot a 116 and 123 for a 239.

As a team, the Lady Blazers finished the two-day tournament with a total of 665.

“It was a good first tournament for our girls to get started,” THS coach Jeff Halley said.

In the boys’ division, Gage Gibson led the way with rounds of 91 and 95 for a total of 186.

Despite not placing, Gibson was the fourth best Class 3A player in the tournament.

Ryder Hackbarth finished the weekend with a 215, while Josh Stitt fired a 250.

“The boys are still young but are getting better,” Halley said.

The boys’ team didn’t record a team score.

Torrington will be back in action Aug. 29-30 at the Buffalo Invite.
