GLENROCK – The Lingle-Fort Laramie Lady Doggers snagged an early win in the first set, before losing three in a row on the road against Glenrock, falling in four.

In the first set, the Lady Doggers came from behind the squeak out the victory in extra points at 26-24. Following the win, Glenrock went on to win the next three sets, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-15.

“Our game against Glenrock was somewhat frustrating,” coach Barb Clark said. “We played well the first game and come from a deficit to win. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to channel that energy and intensity in the next three games.”

Amanda Riley had a solid game, recording 17 kills, which was a team-high. She also tied for the most blocks, with four, while adding nine digs to her stat line. Jordyn Gaspers was second on the team in kills, with six. She also kicked in five digs.

In the back line, Jordan Hunt had a solid game, leading the Lady Doggers in digs, with 17, to go along with three kills, two blocks and an ace. Paige Forkner and Kalli Nichol also had three kills apiece. The two combined for 17 digs and an ace as well. Forkner had four blocks. Thursday was Nichol’s first start in varsity action because Sierra Spears suffered an injury in Mitchell, Neb. and is out for the rest of the season.

“Kalli Nichol was called upon to step in and play in Sierra’s position,” Clark said. “I felt she did a good job and handled the pressure well. It just created the problem of not having any subs for the outside hitters to help them if they might struggle.”

Jade Cooper was all over the court. She paced L-FL in assists, with 28. The senior rounded out her stat sheet with an ace, a kill and 15 digs.

The Lady Doggers dropped to 13-7 on the year after their loss against Glenrock. L-FL looks to rebound this weekend, hosting Guernsey-Sunrise on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Doggers also hit the road for Pine Bluffs Saturday, with the varsity game set to start at 3 p.m.
