LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie High School wrestling team qualified 12 for this weekend’s Class 2A Wyoming State Wrestling Championships at the Casper Events Center.

Dogger seniors Joel Costello and Zane Rising paced the team with runner-up finishes in their respective weight classes on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the 2A East Regional Wrestling Tournament in Lingle.

At 106 pounds, Costello pinned his way to the championship where he was defeated by Colton Coffman of Niobrara County in an 8-4 decision.

In the 160-pound bracket, Rising also won by fall in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds to reach the championship. In his final match, Rising lost by a 13-4 major decision to Hunter Garoutte of Moorcroft.

At 220 pounds, Jessy Valentine was the lone Dogger to end his day with a victory.

Valentine opened the day with a fall victory before being pinned in the semifinal round to Zeb Goodrich of Wright. Valentine rebounded with a pin in the consolation semifinal to advance to the third-place bout, where he defeated Declan Austin of Hanna-Elk Mountain, 6-2.

In the 120-pound bracket, Jaden Houk went 2-2 on the day, losing in the third-place match to Southeast’s Kaden Brothwell by fall.

Ty Prall also went 2-2 in the 126-pound bracket to finish sixth, while Gage Gibson and Landon Norris won one match each in the 138- and 195-pound weight classes, respectively.

Remington Bremer (113 pounds), Hadley Fleming (132), Taylor Swartwood (145), Corey Ducheneaux (152) and Kayden Sims (285) went winless at the regional tournament, but qualified and will compete this weekend.
