SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – Lingle-Fort Laramie junior Kyland Fuller began the 2021 outdoor season the same way he ended the indoor season a month ago – in the win column.

Fuller was the lone Dogger to score a win at the cold and wet Binfield Invite hosted by Scottsbluff High School last Friday.

Fuller’s time of 54.27 seconds won the 400-meter dash, beating out teammate Nolan Spears who finished 15th in 58.86.

Fuller was also the final leg of the 4x400-meter relay team, joining Cooper Hill, Spears and Dustin Swartwood in a fifth-place finish in 3 minutes, 50.73 seconds.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Kyle Gutierrez, Noah Hatch, Wyatt Sylvester and Aidan Matthews placed seventh in 11:34.51.

Hill added a second medal with a seventh place showing in the long jump at 19 feet, 7 inches. Sophomores Corey Ducheneaux and Cooper Fauber finished 21st and 24th, respectively.

Ducheneaux also finished 12th in the triple jump at 33-8.

In the only distance event for the boys’ team, freshman Myles Wilson finished 15th in 11:55.92 in the 3,200-meter run.

In the 100- and 200-meter dashes, no Doggers made the finals, but Fuller finished ninth in the 200-meter dash preliminaries in 24.56, while Hill was 12th in 24.95. Nolan Spears was 18th in 25.61 and Michael Lawrence was 33rd in 28.49.

In the 100, Hill was 13th in 12.08 seconds. Quirt Lee, Fauber and Lawrence were 30th, 39th and 42nd, respectively.

In the girls’ division, sophomores Maddy Saul paced the Lady Doggers with a pair of third-place finishes.

Saul finished third in the 200-meter dash in 29.29 seconds. Saul also placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in 14.08 seconds.

In the 400-meter dash, freshman Holly Leiseth crossed the finish line in 1:08.67, while freshman Natalie Speckner placed ninth in 1:09.52. Sophomore Morgan Cornelius finished 20th in 1:33.05.

Speckner also finished sixth in the 1,600-meter run in 6:03.38, while Leiseth placed 10th in 6:26.73.

M’Lynn Hill was the only other medalist for the Lady Doggers with a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdle finals in 22.96 seconds.

In throwing events, freshman Izzy Spears finished 10th in shot put with a throw of 76-9 and 12th in shot put in 25-10 1/2.

In high jump, Madison Heilbrun cleared 4-4 to finish 10th.

No team standings were kept at the Binfield Invite.

The Doggers return to action at Mitchell, Neb. on Thursday, April 8.
