L-FL grappler reaches 100 career wins at Belle Fourche Invite

BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – Lingle-Fort Laramie High School senior Zane Rising reached milestone win No. 100 over the weekend at the Belle Fourche, S.D. Invite.

The win came in the quarterfinal round of the 160-pound bracket.

Rising picked up win No. 99 by fall over Dylon Marsh of Rapid City-Stevens and in the next round, reached 100 with a first period fall over Blake Hedrick.

Rising was pinned in the third period in the semifinal round, but the senior battled back with a fall victory in the consolation semifinal to advance to the third-place match.

In his final match of the weekend, Rising scored a 6-2 decision win over Hugh Groves of Faith, S.D.

Rising was one of only three Doggers to place at the weekend tournament, joining Jessy Valentine and Landon Norris who also placed.

Valentine went 2-2 on the weekend at 220 pounds, picking up a pin in the fifth-place match over Hunter Hansen of Rapid City Central in the second period.

Norris also reached the fifth-place match but was pinned in the final match of the 195-pound bracket in the first period.

Joel Costello (106 pounds) and Jaden Houk (120) also picked up wins for the Doggers but did not place.

As a team, the Doggers finished 16th out of 22 teams with 55 points. Rapid City-Stevens (S.D.) won the team title with 305 points, while Sturgis (S.D.) finished second with 298.5.

Lingle travels to Yoder on Saturday for the Southeast Duals. Action gets underway at 9 a.m.
