CARSON CITY, Nev. – Kenneth Robert Schmick passed away Dec. 10, 2016 at his home in Carson City surrounded by his family.  He was born June 21, 1940 in Torrington, the fourth of six children to Henry and Rose (Frank) Schmick.  
He grew up on the family farm, graduating from Torrington high school in 1958 and went on to earn a degree in Accounting at the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
As a member of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Divisionk Kenneth was proud of his military service.  He was a decorated veteran of Vietnam.
Kenneth was a financial officer most of his career with mining companies in California, Idaho and Nevada, retiring from Art Wilson Company of Carson City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rose, a sister in law, a nephew and a niece.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; a son Robert of Reno, Nev., a step son Michael (Diana) McIntosh of Sutherland, Neb., and a step daughter Judith Lauck Atkinson (Dan) of Boise, Idaho; two brothers, Henry Jr. of Cheyenne and Edward (Bonnie) of Torrington; three sisters, Virginia Miller of Scottsbluff, Neb., Ruth Barry Long of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Suzanne Martinez of Whiting, Maine; an Aunt Carolyn Schmick (Alvin) Miller of Great Falls, Mont.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and much loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kenneth was an admirable man and a loving father.  He made a difference in so many lives and was greatly loved.  He will be missed always.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday June 2, 2017, at the Colyer Funeral Chapel 2935 Main Street, in Torrington.  There will be a private interment in Valley View Cemetery in Torrington at a later date.
