TORRINGTON – Eastern Wyoming College freshman golf team member Kash Kaufman, Torrington, started the spring golf season out right with a split for first place at the Otero Junior College tournament. Kaufman led the Lancers with a two-day score of 111. He shot at 70 in round one and a 41 in round two. Round two was called after 9 holes due to the wind.
The Lancers finished in fourth place in the tournament with a total score of 464. McCook Community College was first with 457, second place - Lamar Community College with 459, and Otero Junior College was third with 463.
"Kash grinded hard both days and came out splitting the individual win. I was excited to see him start out the season so well," coach Zach Smith said. "We didn't get the team results we had hoped for at this tournament but we are already preparing to turn that around at the next tournament. The competition is tough and we need to be prepared for that."

The Lancers wrapped up action in the Lamar Community College tournament March 28-29. They return to action for a tournament hosted by McCook, Neb. Community College on April 5-6.
