TORRINGTON – Jesse Huff, of Towanda, Kan., could spend the next 10 years in a Wyoming prison after allegedly pulling a gun and pointing it directly in the face of a victim on Dec. 15 in Torrington.

Huff was charged with aggravated assault and battery, a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years. The case was bound over to District Court on Jan. 4. Huff is expected in court for his arraignment hearing at 9 a.m. on Jan. 30.

On Dec. 15, officers responded to a parking lot after receiving a report of “a man pointing a gun at someone,” according to an affidavit of probable cause in the case, filed by TPD Patrolman Jeff Ryall.

The victim in the case told police they were walking to their car when Huff allegedly blew black smoke out of the tailpipe of his truck at them.

“Huff started yelling things to the effect of ‘you wanna go?’ and ‘you wanna take this bullet?’” the affidavit said. “(The victim) stated he said ‘are you … kidding me, you’re going to pull a gun?’”

At that point, Huff allegedly retrieved a revolver and pointed it at the victim. According to the affidavit, Huff pointed the gun right in the victim’s face.

Huff left the lot, and was later found sleeping in a camper at a nearby RV park.

“A search warrant for the truck and trailer were obtained and officers executed a search of the camper. Huff was located in the trailer along with a revolver … just as (the victim) described.”

Huff was arrested and transported to the Goshen County Detention Center. At the GCDC, Huff consented to talk to law enforcement officials about the event.

Huff told police the victim had started the ruckus, but admitted to pulling the gun.

“I … asked Huff why he pulled the revolver that we found in his camper and pointed it at (the victim),” the affidavit said. “Huff then stated that he pulled the gun out with his right hand from between his center console and passenger seat. Huff said he never pointed the gun at (the victim) and placed the gun on the door frame. Huff went on to say that all this happened because he is a pipeliner and that we don’t like pipeliners and he stated ‘I should of (sic) just killed him.”

Huff is currently out of jail after posting a $7500 bond on Dec. 28.
