Junior Leaders create local escape room

TORRINGTON – Can you escape from Clover High? Sunday, local Junior Leaders worked to transform the 4-H Building at the Goshen County Fairgrounds into Clover High – a four-chambered, physical escape puzzle.

“This physical adventure game requires teamwork to solve clues and puzzles,” a press release on the Wyoming 4-H website, wyoming4h.org, reads. “The game includes escape from four rooms using math, music and language arts skills. Planned and developed by Goshen County 4-H Junior Leaders, we guarantee you’ve never done an escape room like this.”

“The kids have been working on it since December,” Megan Brittingham, 4-H Educator and County Coordinator, said Sunday. “So, they’ve set this up a couple different times, but never actually ran it.”

Junior Leader Kylie Carson said the group was inspired to create the escape room after participating in similar events during national trips.

“We’ve been to a couple, and it’s pretty fun,” peer Cora Frederick added. “We’ll see if we can put it together.”

Sunday evening, Junior Leaders moved rolling barriers, broke into groups to discuss the best plan of attack, and constructed wooden doorways for each room, before adding the finishing touches.

The game is open to the public and expected to last approximately one hour. There are 16 time-slots available over two days, beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 8. The last game will take place Saturday, March 9 at 9 p.m. Groups of a minimum of three and maximum of eight individuals will pay $25 per group to play, and the event is suitable for ages 8 years old through adults.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how it all comes together and if people enjoy it,” Frederick said.

Registration must be made online at www.eventbrite.com/e/escape-from-clover-high-tickets-57343785807. A group ticket purchase confirms the desired time-slot and serves as admission.
