TORRINGTON – A Mass of Christian Burial for Jose F. Gonzalez Sr., 53, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at Saint Rose Catholic Church with Father Andrew Duncan officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and a rosary will be at 6 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
Jose was born Aug. 10, 1965, in Torrington, the son of Roberto and Lorenza (Garcia) Gonzalez Sr. He grew up and received his education in Torrington, graduating Torrington High School in 1983. After graduation, he worked for a short time at the sugar factory before joining the Wyoming Army National Guard where he worked for 28 years at Camp Guernsey. After his discharge from the military he again worked for the sugar factory until ill health forced him to quit. He married Sonia Cordova.
Jose enjoyed golfing and played a lot of sports when he was younger including boxing, baseball and football.
Jose is survived by his wife Sonia of Torrington; two sons Jose (Lacy) Gonzalez Jr. and Thomas Gonzalez, both of Torrington; two daughters Roxanne (Stephen) Easton and Bella Gonzalez of Torrington; his father Roberto Gonzalez Sr of Torrington; two sisters Alma Schwartzkopf of Torrington and Jackie Aleman of Fort Collins, Colo.; a brother Roberto Gonzalez Jr. of Thornton, Colo., and; two half-sisters.
