FORT LARAMIE – A local second grader was recognized last week for his life-saving actions on New Year’s Eve. Jordin Eutsler, student at Lingle-Fort Laramie Elementary School, sprang into action after witnessing a family member collapse in his kitchen.
The ailing person was Eutsler’s step-dad, according to his mother, Brenda Morrison.
“Mom and Robert were talking, and then he stopped and then he started to collapse, and we put him on a chair,” Eutsler recalled of the events on Dec. 31. “I called 911 and talked to this lady – Mrs. Hill – she asked my name. I told her her my name and she said to wait, we’re getting the ambulance.”
Eutsler refers to Kara Hill, a member of Fort Laramie Fire and Rescue, as well as a teacher at Lingle-Fort Laramie Schools.
Eutsler said he knew to call 911 because his mother instructed him to do so.
“(Robert) was OK,” Eutsler said, and offered the following advice, “If your step-dad or dad or someone you know collapses, call 911. Tell him or her your name, and then they will call the ambulance – and they will be OK.”
