GERING, Neb. – Jane Fern Coward, 80, passed away on Oct. 16, 2021 at the Mitchell Care Center. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021 at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Online condolences may be left at www.geringchapel.com.
Jane was born Aug. 24, 1941 at Encampment, Wyoming to Thornton and Grace (Mitchell) Fisher. She attended school at Harrisburg.
On May 24, 1959, she was united in marriage to Gary Gene Coward at the Albin Baptist Church in Albin, Wyoming. The couple made their home in Colorado, moved to Torrington, Wyoming, and later to Scottsbluff before moving to the Mitchell Care Center.
Jane was a member of the Gering Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and participated in Bible Studies. She liked to can, bake, sew and spend time with her grandchildren.
Jane is survived by her husband, Gary Coward of Mitchell, Nebraska; children, Gale (Darrell) Packard, Joyce (Stephen) Sinner, Guy (Judy) Coward, Jerry Coward, Gloria (Ash) Anderson, Ronald (Bernice) Coward and Bret (Kristin) Coward; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Mues and Bonnie Gates; nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Sandy, Ida, and Esther, brothers Larry and Archie, and nephews Justin and Todd Fisher.
