Six local track and field athletes competed at the State Indoor Track and Field Meet this past weekend in Gillette as members of the Cheyenne Central team, with the six locals combining to bring home seven top-15 finishes.

Indoor track and field wraps up

GILLETTE – Six local track and field athletes competed at the State Indoor Track and Field Meet this past weekend in Gillette as members of the Cheyenne Central team, with the six locals combining to bring home seven top-15 finishes.

On the boys side, Lingle-Fort Laramie’s Landen Fuller had another solid weekend. He was a member of the Indians’ 4x400-meter relay team that took first with a time of 3:32.23. As a member of the team, Fuller earned all-state recognition.

In individual action, Fuller took fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.31. He also clocked a time of 53.02 seconds in the 400, earning him eighth. In the 200, the Dogger turned in a time of 23.89 seconds to take 14th.

Aaron Borger (Torrington) joined Fuller in the 800, turning in a time of 2:11.94 for 22nd. Borger was also on the ninth-place 4x800-meter relay, which had a time of 9:15.77, and the ninth-place 1600-meter sprint medley team, which clocked a time of 3:53.33.

In the field events, a pair of Blazers in Nathaniel Woodruff and Corbin Harris both competed in the shot put. In the finals of the event, Woodruff recorded a throw of 45 feet, 3.25 inches to take 11th, while Corbin Harris had a put of 40 feet, 9.25 inches to take 19th.

Torrington’s Latasha Wiford took the track in girls action, taking 32nd in the 55-meter dash with a time of 8.10 seconds. She was also on the seventh-place 4x200-meter relay team, which turned in a time of 1:55.03. Fellow Lady Blazer Nakalyn Garner rounded out the local competitors, taking 13th in the pole vault with an 8-foot, 6-inch effort.

The action in Gillette was the final indoor competition of the season.
