LINGLE – A mysterious headstone appeared in the old Lingle cemetery recently. Town Maintenance Supervisor Larry Haeffelin informed council members Wednesday a grave marker belonging to Eunice R. Brown, an 11-year-old girl who died in 1923, was found in the historic resting place.
“We checked our records, and we don’t have her listed,” Haeffelin said.
The town is currently seeking information regarding the headstone and would like to return the memorial to its rightful home.

• Mayor George Siglin thanked everyone for coming on such a hot day – at meeting time, temperatures read more than
100 degrees.
• Police Chief Endra Moen said she’s responded to 46 calls to service since
July 5.
• Clerk-Treasurer Michele Sussex announced Lingle Town Hall will be closed Thursday, July 27 for Fair Day.
n Haeffelin reported the maintenance department has adjusted sprinkler heads in Whipple Park in an attempt to remove stubborn brown spots.
“It’s just hot,” he said.
• The council reappointed Johanna Abernathy as the town’s Lodging Tax Board representative.
• The next council meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 5 p.m. at Lingle Town Hall, followed by the Lions Club’s Community in the Park at 6 p.m. at Whipple Park.
