Halloween events creep into local calendar

GOSHEN COUNTY – Halloween fans of all ages need not look beyond Goshen County’s borders for spooky and sweet seasonal fun.
Leading up to the big day on Tuesday, little ghouls and goblins can get their All Hallow’s Eve fix by attending weekend events sure to scare up a good time.

Saturday
n The second-annual Fort Laramie Halloween Round-up
Fort Laramie Community Center
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Attendees will enjoy treats, games, pumpkin decorating and a scarecrow competition. Rules are as follows for the scarecrow competition: all entries must either be free-standing or able to be inserted into a hay bale; scarecrows can be traditional, contemporary, themed or whatever you can dream up, although they must be family friendly; all scarecrows must be delivered to the Fort Laramie Community Center between 8 to 10 a.m. Oct 28, with pickup from 3 to 5 p.m. Contact Jennifer at (765) 721-5154 for questions, early delivery or late pickup.

Sunday
• 4-H Harvest Carnival
Ag Hall, Goshen County Fairgrounds
1:30 to 4 p.m.

The 4-H Harvest Carnival offers several spooky booths with games, treats and a plethora of Halloween fun.

• United Methodist Church Spooky Organ Concert
2702 Main St., Torrington
7 p.m.
Torrington United Methodist Church will host its fourth-annual Spooky Organ Concert with featured artist Fred Krieger.
The public is invited to wear Halloween costumes and enjoy the seasonally-themed music. Donuts and hot cider will be served following the concert. A free-will offering will be accepted.

On actual Halloween, residents will have plenty of opportunities to show off their costumes and bring home huge hauls of candy.
Tuesday
 All Saints Episcopal Church Pumpkin Walk
The intersection of North Main Street and 26th Street in Torrington
3:30 to 5 p.m.

All Saints Episcopal Church in Torrington will host a special trick-or-treat event for children aged five and younger on Halloween afternoon. The church requests no scary costumes for the event.
The Pumpkin Walk may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.

 Torrington Trunk or Treat
Main Street in Torrington
5 to 6 p.m.
The 16th-annual Safety Treat Night Trunk or Treat is a wildly successful community event that offers candy galore, fun with friends and a chance to interact with local business owners, firefighters and members of the Torrington Police Department.

 Lingle Trunk or Treat
5 to 7 p.m. – or until candy is gone
Lingle-Fort Laramie Elementary
Organizers are seeking cars, trucks, SUVs and people to decorate their trunks and hand out candy for this event. Setup time is from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. This opportunity is available for everyone in the community and surrounding areas.
