Gunning for a winner

TVFD selling tickets for upcoming gun raffle

Posted

TORRINGTON – Members of the Torrington Volunteer Fire Department, along with Don Haught, president of Valley Plumbing & Heating, drew the final winner of the 2016-17 TVFD gun raffle Monday morning.
J.L. Garman won a Barnett crossbow package as part of the department’s annual fundraiser and monthly gun drawing. Area businesses, in conjunction with Gary’s Gun Shop in Torrington, sponsor different months of the year for the raffle, which raises money for training and equipment for department members.
TVFD firefighters sell 500 tickets at $50 each – allowing each ticket holder 12 chances to win a brand new gun. Each monthly winner’s number is put back into the raffle for another opportunity to take home the remaining prizes.
The TVFD is currently selling raffle tickets for the 2017-18 contests, which will begin in April. Guns to be raffled in the next 12 months include: Ruger AR-15, Cz over-under 12-gauge, Savage .17 HMR, Ruger Precision Rifle .308, Baby Eagle .40sw, Savage 30-06, Benelli Super Black Eagle II, Glock 32 .357, Thompson 1927 Tommy Gun, Ruger SR 1911, M1A1 .308/7.62 mm.
