TORRINGTON – Farmers in Goshen and Laramie Counties are planting hemp for the second year, in partnership with GreenTree Ag, LLC.
According to a press release from Goshen Economic Development (GED), Goshen County’s Ervin Gara is partnered with GreenTree to plant about 245 acres of fiber and grain hemp varieties. Laramie County’s Tim Anderson is working with GreenTree to plant 60 acres of fiber hemp.
The release said these farmers’ harvests last year yielded more than the national average tonnage.
“The summer of 2020 was very dry, and this crop showed its resiliency to drought conditions,” GreenTree’s President and CEO Justin Loeffler said in the release.
“GreenTree Ag is a precision agriculture company headquartered in Torrington. They strive to become leaders in industrial hemp production and processing in the state and regionally. Goshen Economic Development is excited to be partnered with GreenTree Ag,” read the release.
