TORRINGTON – The Goshen Care Center Joint Powers Board has unanimously selected local contractor Goshen County Construction, as construction manager at risk for the proposed new assisted living facility, known as Evergreen Plaza.  The facility will be built on the old nursing home site at 20th and East E.  The facility will include up to 30 living units, food preparation, dining, laundry and other community spaces, along with a physical link to the existing Evergreen Court.

The Board received seven responses to the request for qualifications.  Of those, three were selected for a personal interview with a committee.  According to chairman Paul Novak, the Board was impressed with the strength and quality of the applicants.

Goshen County Construction owner Ken Farrier will now begin working with the architect, TSP Design, to complete the design phase of the facility, working to make sure the project is within budget.  The Board has received a $3 Million grant from the Wyoming Business Council and expects to fund the remainder of the cost with a consortium of local banks.  Preliminary estimates have the total cost of the project at just under $7 Million.

All parties are expecting that construction will begin this fall and could take up to 18 months for completion.
