TORRINGTON – Funeral services for George Jacob Wilhelm, 74, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerry Hackett officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. George died July 9, 2017, at Goshen Healthcare Community. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers or Diabetes Associations or the family. Visitation will be Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the casket will be open briefly following the service. George was born Jan. 30, 1943, in Arapahoe, the son of George and Esther (Miller) Wilhelm. In 1949 he moved with his family to Torrington where he lived until his death. He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 16, 1964, to Aug. 8, 1966. He married Debra Holcomb Alford and the couple later divorced. To this marriage three children were born, Stacie Rae, Travis Jacob and Phillip LeRoy. George married Jean Hackett Wilson on April 17, 1991. He was employed at Holly Sugar, Jirdon Ag, and Kelly Bean in Torrington and worked with his father in farming and also farmed on his own.
George is survived by his wife Jean of Torrington; sons Travis (Amanda) Wilhelm of Ft. Laramie and Phillip (Tabatha) Wilhelm of Cheyenne; daughter Stacie Wilhelm and friend Raymond Urrutia of Cheyenne; step-daughter Jeannie (Patrick) Dudley of Cheyenne; sisters Betty Zimmerman of Sterling, Colo., and Virginia (Dan) Gibson of Lyman, Neb.; a brother Dan Wilhelm and friend Jacque Armes of Cheyenne; former wife Debora Holcomb; grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
