GCT plans special Eclipse production

GOSHEN COUNTY – Calling all fans of theatre who may also enjoy celestial drama. Goshen County will be in a unique spotlight this summer in the path of totality for the upcoming Solar Eclipse on Aug. 21. Goshen Community Theatre is planning to be part of the countywide event that starts with a three-day festival Aug. 18-20 (Friday through Sunday).
GCT is doing a project called THEclipse, giving participants a chance to have fun in costume and mingle with residents and visitors during the festival. There will also be an opportunity to do some improvisational performances. There will be an informational meeting about the event June 5 at 5:30 p.m. at 21st and Main in the upstairs meeting room. THEclipse will include classes in June, July and August at that same location with a fee of $20 per adult and $10 for students to help cover the cost of makeup and materials.

This opportunity is open to everyone regardless of age or experience. GCT is looking for people who want to have fun learning about different types of makeup, movement, accents and costumes for various characters and then picking the one(s) they want to develop. We will work with participants individually and as a group to establish the look and sound of
each character.
Those who are comfortable with their character(s) may want to participate in some short performances during the festival which would be spontaneous with a general story idea but no scripted lines.  Others may prefer to dress in character, greeting people throughout the community and encouraging them to attend the improv performances that will be presented during the three-day festival
For more information, call either Diona Savoy-McDaniels at 307-575-6490 or Callie Allred at 307-575-3568. Classes will be at the new GCT office location at 21st and Main in the upper meeting area.
