One of the many sights of spring is the appearance of the avian denizens of Eastern Wyoming as they begin their annual courtship rituals. These feathered friends, found Sunday around the Springer/Bump-Sullivan Wildlife Management Area, are no exception. TOP: A ring-necked pheasant cock puffs up its feathers, trying to impress a nearby hen, exhibiting courtship behavior along County Road 42 at the south end of the Springer Wildlife Management Unit south of Yoder. ABOVE: A red-winged blackbird perches on a barbed wire fence and sings near the Bump-Sullivan Reservoir. RIGHT: A meadowlark perches on a tumbleweed trapped in a fence and sings, April 28, along the roadside at the Bump-Sullivan Wildlife Refuge south of Yoder.
