LA JUNTA, Colo. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer golf team competed at the annual fall tournament hosted by Otero Junior College Oct. 5-6.
Sophomore Trey Massey, Lander, won the tournament with two-day scores of 68-68, 136. The Lancers finished the tournament in second place by two strokes with a team total of 582.
“The guys felt like they left a lot of shots on the course which is tough to handle when we are in such a tight battle for first, second, and third,” coach Zach Smith said. “The guys fought hard but at the end of the day we fell just short of the team title this week. Trey played incredibly well again this week to win his second tournament of the season. We look forward to a strong finish to the fall season.”
Other Lancer team member scores were as follows: Gonzalo Arcelay Fernandez-Meras, freshman, Munguia, Spain – 73-75, 148, tied for seventh; Kash Kaufman, freshman, Torrington – 71-78, 149, tied for 11th; Cameron Heath, freshman, Bolton, U.K. – 76-75, 151, tied for 15th; George Elliott, freshman, Salisbury, U.K. – 77-76, 153, tied for 19th; Hunter Robbins, freshman, Evanston – 78-75, 153, tied for 19th.
The Lancers will complete their fall season Oct. 12-13 in Lamar, Colo. for a tournament hosted by Lamar Community College.
