TORRINGTON – The Eastern Wyoming College women’s basketball team ended the regular season with a 70-54 win over Laramie County Community College.
The Lady Lancers outscored the visiting Golden Eagles 24-4 over the final 10 minutes to pull away for the win.
Coming into the fourth quarter, EWC trailed LCCC 50-46 before scoring the next 13 points to take the lead for good.
Freshman Natalie Kalaydjiev sparked the rally with a 3-pointer seconds into the final quarter, and a minute later, freshman Malin Beuck put the Eastern Wyoming in front 51-50 with 8:56 left.
Kalaydjiev led EWC with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while freshman Ana Gascon added 10. Beuck and sophomore Montse Gutierrez Ibanez had nine apiece.
The Lady Lancers finish the regular season with a 14-7 overall record.
The Women’s Region IX Tournament begins on Friday, April 2 and wraps up on Thursday, April 8 in LaJunta, Colo.
