EWC volleyball win three at LCCC Invite

CHEYENNE – The No 16-ranked Eastern Wyoming College volleyball team earned a pair of three-set sweeps and a nail-biting victory at the weekend’s Laramie County Community College Volleyball Invitational.

On Friday, the Lady Lancers scored a pair of 3-0 wins over Central Community College-Columbus (Neb.) and Trinidad State (Colo.) Junior College.

EWC opened the weekend with a 25-18, 25-13, 25-23 win over Central Community College-Columbus.

Sophomore Vanja Przulj led the Lady Lancers with 11 kills, while sophomore Anja Vuleta added 10. Redshirt freshman Lejla Viteskic tallied six blocks, while sophomore Alyssa Parmelee and Przulj had two apiece.

Later in the day, the Eastern Wyoming defeated TSJC 25-19, 25-20, 25-12.

Przulj once again led the Lady Lancers with nine kills. Parmelee added seven. Sophomore libero J’Adore Hayes recorded 10 digs, while freshman Victoria Anderer tallied four blocks.

The next morning, the Lady Lancers overcame a 2-0 deficit to knock off Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, 22-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-17, 17-15.

In the fifth set, Eastern Wyoming trailed 15-14 before rattling off three straight points to get the team’s sixth win of the season.

Przulj led the team with 17 kills, while Viteskick added nine. Parmelee, freshman Alyssa George, Anderer and Vuleta had seven kills apiece. Hayes recorded 27 digs, while Parmelee had 14 and Przulj 13. Vuleta and Anderer tallied five blocks apiece.

The Lady Lancers (6-1) are back in action at the McCook (Neb.) Community College Tournament Friday and Saturday. EWC will face Otero (Colo.) Junior College at 1 p.m. and Barton (Kan.) Community College at 5 p.m. Friday and Butler (Kan.) Community College at 9 a.m. and McCook at 5 p.m. Saturday.
