EWC volleyball sweeps road doubleheader

CAPSER – The Eastern Wyoming College volleyball team picked up a pair of road wins against Casper College and Western Wyoming Community College over the weekend.

The Lady Lancers grabbed a 2-0 set lead before Casper battled back to win two straight sets to force a fifth.

Ultimately, Eastern Wyoming escaped Casper with a 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, 26-24, 15-13 win over the Lady Thunderbirds.

EWC had four players tally double-figure kills, led by freshman Makenna Reinert with 15. Sophomore Victoria Anderer had 13, while sophomore Alyssa George added 12. Freshman Fatima Ramirez recorded 10. Anderer also led the team with 26 digs and four blocks.

The Lady Lancers also served up 10 aces, including four from sophomore Vanja Tomic and three from freshman Asli Erdi. Tomic also recorded 30 assists.

The next day, EWC traveled to Rock Springs, picking up a 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-17) sweep of the Lady Mustangs.

George led the Lady Lancers with 12 kills, while Reinert and Anderer had eight and nine, respectively. Tomic handed out 21 assists and tallied 15 digs. Anderer had four blocks, while Erdi had three.

The Lady Lancers (7-8 overall and 2-2 in the Region IX North) travel to Cheyenne to face Laramie County Community College at 7 p.m. on Friday.
