TORRINGTON – Eastern Wyoming College Lancer golf team member Harry Walch has been named to the NJCAA DI All-Freshman Team.  Walch was awarded the honor at the national banquet held earlier this week in Garden City, KS.  He was one of five freshmen named to the prestigious team.
He was also recognized as an NJCAA Division I Ping All-American Team, second team member.

Walch and teammate Arvy Shongwe, were named to the NJCAA Division I Ping All-District team for District I.
Walch is from Staines, Surrey, England and Shongwe is from Ezulwini, Swaziland.
“It was a nice surprise,” Walch said.  “It was nice to be recognized in front of the country’s best players for the individual hard work I have put in not just on the course but the many hours spent in the cold weather and indoor area practicing. I had a great run this spring, I hope it continues into this week. I must thank coach for his great support throughout the year. We made the best of everything we have and he has been an incredible support to me mentally. Not just a good coach but a great friend too.”
“Harry has been fun to watch on the golf course and has been fun to be around this year,” coach Zach Smith said. “He knows so much about the game of golf which has benefitted the whole team including me. He has the drive and determination to take him as far as he'd like to go with the game of golf. I was so happy for him when he won 3 different awards at the banquet, including one of the top 5 freshman in the NJCAA. The sky is the limit for Harry and I wish him nothing but the best as he moves forward from EWC and onto great things.”
