TORRINGTON – The Eastern Wyoming College Lady Lancers’ opening game in the Verl Petsch Jr. Activities Center was ruined Wednesday by a loss to Northeastern Junior College in three sets.
In the first set, NJC held the wire-to-wire win. The Lady Lancers failed to come out of the gates strong, with the Lady Plainsmen building a seven-point lead (13-6). EWC did manage to rebound, bringing the game to within one, with the score sitting at 20-19, but NJC closed the door, grabbing the 25-21 win.
The Lady Lancers came out strong in the second set, holding a lead for the first part of the set. NJC withstood the initial surge and tied the game up, 9-9. With the game tied, the visitors took control, taking the lead and never letting go, picking up the win 25-18.
