LONGMONT, Colo. – Eva K. Steinmetz, 97, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the Life Care Center of Longmont, Colo. A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
She was born June 6, 1919, on the family homestead north of Torrington, the daughter of John and Katie (Oeshner) Lepp. She grew up in the Burge Community where her parents homesteaded. She attended the Happy Hollow School, north of Torrington.
She married George Steinmetz on Nov. 13, 1937. The union produced seven children. Eva enjoyed gardening and baking. Good food was her riches in life. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and her pet dogs.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald (Jerry) and wife Glee of Torrington; Kenneth and wife Norma of Glenrock; five daughters and spouses: Kathleen (Kathy) and the late Drew Williamson of Boulder, Colo.; Judy and Harold Weis of Torrington; Linda and John Reichert of Alaska; Mary Lou and Dean Miller of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Patty and the late Ron Schlagel of Torrington; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Albert, Joe and Henry Lepp, and a sister, Frieda Steinmetz.
