PHOENIX, Ariz – Arizona Chrisitan University head coach Bryan Altena announced the signing of Caleigh Essert – a two time defending Wyoming 3A State Champion.
Essert has also represented Wyoming at the Girls Junior Americas Cup the last three years.
“We are excited as a team and as a school to have Caleigh join us next fall,” Altena said. “Caleigh brings a very impressive resume of accomplishments with her. She will be an impact player right away and a key to our team success. The only downside is that we have to wait till next season.”
On the strength of shooting the lowest average score for high school girls in 2017 and 2018, Essert, who calls Torrington home, is the two-time Wyoming State Golf Association (WSGA) Girls Junior Golfer of the Year and one time WSGA Women's Player of the Year.
The 2018 Wyoming Junior State Amateur Champion also qualified for the World Junior Championships. Essert established the all-time all-class Wyoming state tournament record, leading the Lady Blazers to an 80-stroke victory.
After serving as the team captain and guiding the Torrington High School to the 3A State Team Championship, Essert was named the Lew Lepore Wyoming High School Player of the Year.
