TORRINGTON – St. Joseph’s Children’s Home employees recently donated $1,200 to the Wyoming Child and Family Development Torrington Learning Center to assist with costs in providing services to children birth to age five, which include Head Start classrooms and disability services. Additionally, $1,200 was donated to the Boy Scout Troop No. 26 to assist with costs for their annual camping trip and other troop activities.

These funds were raised by St. Joseph’s employees through “Greens for Jeans,” a voluntary program which allows employees to wear jeans on Fridays in exchange for a $20 monthly donation. These funds are then donated to local charities.

Since the program started in 2016, “Greens for Jeans” has raised more than $8,500 for local charitable organizations. Past recipients of these funds include The Practice Program, Land of Goshen Ministries, Goshen County Task Force on Family Violence and Sexual Assault, Caring and Sharing, Goshen County Schools Backpack Program, St. Rose Emergency Assistance Fund and the Goshen Ministerial Association.
