Eleanor Lorene Amen was born May 3, 1920, in Fort Collins, Colo., to George and Amelia (Ostermiller) Amen. When she was five years old, her family moved to Scottsbluff, Neb. She came from a family of 12, with six brothers and five sisters.

In 1939 she met Charles Kuntz at a dance in Mitchell, Neb. That was the beginning of a lifelong union. She married Charles on Aug. 17, 1939. They had four children, two boys and two girls. Eleanor was married to Charles for 68 years before he passed away in 2007.

Eleanor was a busy woman raising children, cooking, and baking, canning and freezing foods raised in their garden or hunted and fished by Charles. She loved to quilt, embroidery, sew and write letters, but her favorite was baking bread. She loved to have her hands in dough. Her family loved the results and the house always smelled like fresh baked bread.

Eleanor loved to dance, play cards and do puzzles. She also had quite a green thumb. She also enjoyed the outings that she and her family would take to the mountains, parks and recreational areas. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Eleanor is survived by three of her children; Steve (VI) Kuntz of Ocala, Fla., Ron Kuntz of Laramie and Joyce (Larry) Baker of Kimberly, Idaho; grandchildren Maureen (Mo) Jester of Farmland, Ind., Monica (David) Hinzman of Ocala, Todd (Tamara ) Baker of Casselberry, Fla.; great-grandchildren Ty, Brandy, and Bailey Jester of Farmland, Emma Hinzman of Ocala, Peyton and Macey Baker and Paris Fretz of Casselberry; and one sister Dorthea Miller of Rockford, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter Lynn; four brothers: John, Harry, Albert and Eddie; two infant brothers; and four sisters: Lorraine, Pauline, Emma Lou and Rachel.
