TORRINGTON – Mass for Eleanor Kuropas, 96, at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Father Dan Kostelc officiating. Eleanor died at her home on Oct. 13, 2022. Cremation will take place following the service. The casket will be open briefly following the service. Eleanor was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Tekla (Makur) Spierala. She grew up and received her education in the Chicago area. She married Stanley Kuropas in Chicago and they lived and worked there. Eleanor worked for Western Electric until WWII when she worked building planes during the war. In 2015, she moved to Torrington with her family.
Eleanor enjoyed sewing, working puzzles and watching sports.
Eleanor is survived by her son Robert (Bridget) Kuropas of Torrington; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son David; a daughter Charlene; and eight brothers and sisters.
