TORRINGTON – Funeral services for Edward L. “Eddie” Capps, 84, will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Gribble officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.
Eddie died Dec. 29, 2017, at Goshen Healthcare Community. Memorials may be made to the Lyman Christian Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and the casket will be open briefly following the service. Eddie was born Nov. 17, 1933, in Phillipsburg, Kan., the son of Walter and Dessie (Roush) Capps. He attended school in Erie, Colo. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp for three years before returning to Colorado.
He married Ina Claire Ivey on Jan. 1, 1955, in Eastlake, Colo. They lived in rural Broomfield, Colo., from 1962 to 1997, where he farmed.
He also drove truck for Ward Transport from 1962 to 1969 and then worked for them as a diesel mechanic from 1969 till 1985. He worked at Rocky Flats from 1985 till 1995 as a supervisor and mechanic. They moved to Torrington in 1997.
Eddie enjoyed working, raising cattle and buffalo, fishing, reading, gardening and traveling. He was a member of the Lyman Christian Church.
Eddie is survived by his wife Ina of Torrington; three daughters Christi Shields and Jolene Capps of Torrington and Theresa Capps of Bisbee, Ariz.; brothers Justin Capps of Denver, Colo., and Walter Capps of Phoenix, Ariz.; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Shannon Lee Borm, and a brother, Leland Capps.
