Eastern Wyoming College hosts ‘awesome’ blood draw

TORRINGTON – Once again, students and community residents took advantage of the bi-annual opportunity to donate blood at Eastern Wyoming College on Monday, Oct. 30.

According to EWC’s Outreach and Perkins Grant Coordinator Kim Russell, who helps organize the blood draw, this event was exceptional.

“It was awesome,” she said Tuesday morning, explaining that 18 donors had participated last week. “Our goal was 12.”

Russell is impressed with the college’s success in spite of being one of several local opportunities throughout the year.

“There are a lot of other sites in the community throughout the year,” Russell said. “But I like to think the college is an untapped resource, and we generally have a pretty good turnout.”

The service was provided by United Blood Services of Cheyenne, and members of the EWC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society registered donors.
