TORRINGTON – Duane “Ike” M. Lively, 81, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021 at Torrington Community Hospital. 

He was proceeded in death by his parents Ray A. and Leatha G. Lively of Chadron, Nebraska and sister Joray. Ike is survived by brother Marvin Lively of Buhl, Idaho. Kaye Lively of Torrington. Karri, Bill and Brandon Waggoner of Laramie, Wyoming. Kelly, Michele, Megan and Ashlyn Lively of Vero Beach, Florida.  

He was born in Chadron on May 5, 1940 and lived in the Torrington area for most of his life. He attended Torrington HS as a youth. Graduating with the class of ’58, Ike earned a degree in Mathematics and P.E. from Chadron State College. Returning to Torrington post-graduation, he taught and coached for many years.

He was a long-time member of the Torrington Country Club and employed by both Torrington and Morrill Municipal Courses at various points in his life. His interests included golf as well as watching a variety of sports and collecting / restoring vintage Chevy Corvettes. 

Having spent most of his life in the area, Ike seemed to know and befriend most everyone he contacted. The family greatly appreciates the support of his close friends and community in recent years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 11 from 2-6 p.m. for friends and family at the American Legion Hall on Center Ave in Morrill, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for a later designation.
