TORRINGTON – An unidentified man was injured early Tuesday when the Mazda pickup truck he was driving reportedly struck a moving train near the Kelley Bean plant in Torrington.
Torrington Police Sgt. Patrick Connelly said the man, who was not immediately identified by officials, apparently left the Thrifty Convenience Store parking lot shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday and cut across U.S. Hwy. 26 and through the Kelley Bean Plant parking lot. It appeared the man suffered a seizure, lost control of his vehicle and struck the side of the moving, west-bound train.
The man was reportedly not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was ejected. He was taken to the hospital by Torrington ambulance. His condition was not known as of press time.
Charges are pending in connection with the accident.
