Torrington High School principal Chase Christensen (right) presents teacher Doyle Meyer with an autographed football from the Blazer football team. Meyer was honored by the College Football Playoff Foundation’s “Extra Yard for Teachers.” In addition to being the voice of the Blazers at all home games, Mr. Meyer consistently serves on the chain gang for JV football. He can be seen at just about every student activity throughout the year supporting his students in their extracurricular pursuits. Mr. Meyer has stepped up this year in a big way. Doyle has had an excellent career as a science teacher. Over the past couple of years, he has been asked to step outside of this role. His answer, when asked, has always been that he will do whatever is best for the students. He has served as the dean of students for two years; and this year, he went back into the classroom full time and took on some new courses. Doyle is now the sole health teacher at Torrington High School, he is teaching Chemistry after a long hiatus, and he continues to be an excellent anatomy and physiology teacher. Doyle brings a joyful attitude to work each day and his care for the students and the profession is contagious.
