TORRINGTON – Dorothy L. Harshberger, 81, died Jan. 16, 2019, at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colo., and cremation has taken place. She will be inurned in private family services.

Memorials may be given to the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church Building and Grounds Fund. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.

Dorothy was born Jan. 8, 1938, in Torrington, the daughter of Wilmer and Vadah (Gobble) Gamble. She grew up and received her early education in Torrington, graduating Torrington High School in 1956. She attended college in Sheridan and Casper and then one year at the University of Wyoming.

She married Les McBrien on June 2, 1957, and they later divorced in 1975. She married Charles (Chuck) Harshberger on Oct. 2, 1976, in Torrington. 

She worked as a secretary and agent for McBrayer’s Insurance and later Trail Insurance for 27 years. She retired in 2000.

Dorothy enjoy working with flowers, walking, painting, swimming, remodeling houses and helping at the church. She was a member of the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church and attended the First Congregational Church. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Church Women, the garden club, Bible study groups and Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority Alumni Association.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Chuck Harshberger of Torrington; daughter Debra (Scott) Redabaugh of Oakton, Va.; son Michael (Betsy) McBrien of Knoxville, Tenn.; step-son Charlie (Julie) Harshberger of Torrington; step-daughters Gail and Terri Harshberger, both of Arkansas; her sister Betty Jean (Jim) Horton of Torrington; special niece Linda (Stan) Nicholls of Torrington; other nieces and nephews; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Mary Lu Pollat; and a step-great-grandson, Landon Valentine.
