Donald Levon Cochran

WHEATLAND – Donald Levon Cochran was born in Wheatland, February 28, 1938.

He attended Wheatland schools graduating in 1956. He accepted Christ as a young teen and joined the First Christian Church. He attended Platte Valley Bible College for one year.

Growing up he was active in 4-H, baseball, wrestling, football and basketball. 

He served two years in the Army from 1961 to 1962. Levon farmed west of Wheatland for many years. He met and married Charlyne Austin in 1973. To this union four children were born. Levi, Merlo, Ross and Kyla. In 1994 Levon sold the farm and bought a ranch north of Fort Laramie where he resided at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Older brother Glendal Cochran also deceased in 2022. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Charlyne (Austin) Cochran. Son Levi (Rebecca) Cochran four step-sons, one son and two daughters of Lingle; daughter Merlo (David) Schardt and three grandaughters, one grandson of Fort Laramie; son Ross (Cynthia) Cochran and two grandsons of Winterhaven, Florida. Daughter Kyla (Casey) Foltz and two grandsons of Casper. He is survived by brother Denzil (Dorothy) and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Most hours were spent tending cattle, crops or kids but if time allowed he enjoyed hunting, playing cards and fishing. 

The funeral will be held at the First Christian Church of Wheatland, 9519th St. on June 11 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Church at Jay Em, Kim Desenfants 5182 Vantassel Rd. Torrington, WY 82240 or First Christian Church, 9519th St. Wheatland, WY 82201.
