Doggers of the Quarter named

LINGLEOnward Doggers, onward Doggers – fight for pride and fame… a line from the Dogger fight song encourages and motivates students at Lingle-Ft. Laramie High School to have pride in what it means to be a Dogger.

Second quarter Dogger of the Quarter students – Dally Wilkins and Austin Stoeger – have taken these lyrics seriously.

Dally Wilkins

Freshman Dally Wilkins, the daughter of Andy and Heather Wilkins (a 1996 L-FL graduate) said when she was called to the office to ‘talk’ she was scared. Her relief came in finding out she was being recognized as Dogger of the Quarter.

Dally is an active young lady participating in volleyball, basketball, FFA, FBLA, Student Council and many 4-H events. She was recently recognized and competed in horse judging – one of her passions – at the national level.

What stood out to Dally about this recognition was that it was not based on her tenacious and involved academic success, but because teachers realized she serves as a role-model for other students. She puts forth great effort in all areas of her life, has a winning attitude, and strives to always have integrity. This award meant someone, a lot of someone’s, saw the true Dally and they put stake and belief in her to represent the school and all the personal as a great example of what it means to be a Dogger.

Austin Stoeger

Austin Stoeger, the son of Larry and Danielle Stoeger, a senior, was surprised and excited when he found out he was being awarded.

Austin thought teachers recognized him because of the effort he puts forth in school, his commitment to school spirit, and his ability to mentor younger students in the Ag shop. Austin said he believes Lingle is a good fit for him, and he has “support and care from his teachers.”

Not only was he surprised by this recognition, he said he has never been one to get awards at school. But he understands how important it is to be a good example for other students and to be involved at school, even if student’s do not play sports.

Austin is an FFA member and spends his out of school time working for his father at their family business.

Both Austin and Dally are excellent examples of what encompasses the foundations of the Dogger of the Quarter award. Teachers are asked to recognize students who go above and beyond and exhibit characteristics such as kindness, tenacity, hard work and grit.
