Doggers fail to stop Kaycee’s winning streak

LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers were unable to stop the Kaycee Buckaroos’ 25-game winning streak, falling at home Friday for Senior Night, 74-0.

Kaycee got the scoring off early, recording a touchdown in less than three minutes into the game. The Buckaroos followed their first score with three more touchdowns in the frame. In the second quarter, Kaycee added four more touchdowns, increasing their shutout lead over L-FL.

After the break, Kaycee had a pick-six less than three minutes into the third. Late in the third quarter, the visitors scored again. In the fourth, the Buckaroos scored two more touchdowns, with one coming on a blocked punt.

The Doggers were unable to get a ground game going. Hayden Hill was their top rusher, toting the rock 16 times for only four yards. Zane Rising was the only other Dogger with positive yardage on the ground, with one yard on one carry.

In the passing game, Cordell Forkner completed five of his 16 passes for 25 yards. Brandon Hill was his favorite target, hauling in four receptions for 27 yards. Hayden Hill had the other catch for -2 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Brandon Hill was all over the field, recording two solo tackles and seven assisted tackles. Dustin Swartwood led the way in unassisted tackles, with four, along with an assisted tackle. Forkner also had a big game on defense, accounting for a solo tackle and five assisted tackle. Zane Rising had the only tackle for loss for the Doggers and Hayden Hill had the only pass breakup.

The Doggers now sit at 1-5 on the season with a 1-4 record in the conference. They are not eliminated from playoff contention, but they need to win out and get a lot of help. L-FL looks to get the first step out of the way with a win over Hulett this week. The Red Devils and Doggers square off in Hulett on Saturday, with kickoff set for 2 p.m.
