Doggers drop three

LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers hosted the L-FL Invite this weekend, where they lost a close one to Hulett on Friday, before falling to both Midwest and Encampment on Saturday.

Hulett 66, L-FL 65

In the losing effort, Ty Mueller came away with a double-double, tallying 19 points and 11 boards. He shot 8-for-13 from inside the arc, while accounting for a team-high five assists and two blocks.

Caeden Riley was not far behind in the scoring department, recording 17 points, including six points from three-point land and another three from the charity stripe. Like Mueller, Riley had a double-double, finishing the game with 10 rebounds and two assists.

Bailey Powell rounded out the L-FL players in double-figures with 10 points in the game, which he paired with four boards, three assists and a steal. Mason McFadden was a force around the rim, tallying a team-high 18 rebounds, 10 of which he got off the offensive glass. McFadden also had five points, an assist and two blocks.

Cooper Hill and Cordell Forkner accounted for seven points apiece, while combining for three rebounds and three assists. Rhett Greenwald and Hayden Hill combined for six rebounds and three steals.

L-FL shot 35 percent from the field, and only 27 percent from deep and 33 percent from the charity stripe (5-of-15).

Midwest 51, L-FL 44

Riley took over the scoring for the Doggers against the Oilers, racking up 22 points, including 12 from three-point land and six from the charity stripe. He also had eight rebounds and a team-high two assists.

McFadden and Forkner each had six points in the loss. McFadden paced L-FL with nine rebounds, while Forkner kicked in another four. Mueller and Greenwald chipped in five points apiece. The duo, along with Hayden Hill and Scott Gilchriest, combined for five rebounds, three assists and a steal.

In the loss, the Doggers’ shooting percentage dropped to 31 percent from the floor, but improved to 30 percent from behind the arc and 50 percent from the free-throw line.

Encampment 84, L-FL 43

The Doggers put up 15 points in the first quarter against fifth-ranked Encampment, while allowing 25 points. By halftime, the Tigers were ahead 36-26. Encampment came out hot in the third quarter, thwarting any rally ideas by the Doggers by going on a 14-0 run to open the frame. By the end of the third, L-FL was looking up at a 64-37 deficit and Encampment cruised to the 84-43 win.

McFadden paced the Doggers in scoring with 12 points in the loss, along with six boards and a steal. Greenwald had a stellar game on the boards, coming away with eight rebounds including six on the offensive end of the floor. Greenwald rounded out his stat line with 11 points and two steals.

Forkner and Cooper Hill had five points apiece and combined for two assists and a steal. Mueller, Riley and Gilchriest recorded three points each, while Mueller had three boards and two assists and Riley kicked in three rebounds and a team-high four assists.

The Doggers have hit a skid in the young season after winning their first game, now sitting at 1-5 on the year. L-FL hosts Crawford, Neb. on Jan. 5, with the tipoff slated for 7 p.m., followed by a home game against Guernsey-Sunrise on Jan. 6 at 4 p.m.
