LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers suffered two losses to close out the regular season, falling on Senior Night to Burns 47-39 and on the road Saturday against 2A’s second-ranked Pine Bluffs, 69-23.

Burns 47, L-FL 39

Brandon Hill had a solid start to the game, scoring eight points in the first quarter to push the Doggers out to a 10-7 lead after the first quarter. By halftime, L-FL was up 23-16. Several of the first-half points came from the charity stripe because it was a hotly contested half, with both teams in the double-bonus for a majority of the second quarter.

Returning back to the floor, Burns started knocking down shots and limiting L-FL on the other end of the floor. A three by the visitors late in the third quarter gave the Broncs a 28-27 lead heading into the final frame. Burns expanded on its lead a bit and with 1:32 left on the clock led 42-37. A bucket by Caeden Riley trimmed the lead to 42-39 with 49 seconds to go, but the Dogger offense was halted there. The Broncs closed out the game on a 5-0 run to secure the win.

Hill was the top scorer for L-FL, pouring in 12 points, including six from behind the arc. He also recorded three rebounds and an assist. Riley and Cordell Forkner both put up seven points on the night. Forkner paced the Doggers with seven rebounds along with a steal, while Riley chipped in five boards, an assist and a steal.

Rhett Greenwald tallied four points in the loss, which he paired with three boards, an assist and a steal. Cooper Hill chipped in three points. Hayden Hill, Scott Gilchriest and Mason McFadden all had two points apiece. Hayden Hill had five rebounds, an assist and a team-high three steals, while Gilchriest and McFadden combined for four boards and a steal.

Pine Bluffs 69, L-FL 23

The Doggers improved slightly from the last time they squared off against No. 2 Pine Bluffs. On Jan. 27, the Hornets beat the Doggers 74-22, so L-FL has trimmed the margin since that contest, falling on Saturday in its final regular season game of the season, 69-23.

Greenwald was the top scorer for the Doggers with eight points on the night on 3-of-7 shooting from the floor and 2-of-3 shooting from the free-throw line. He finished the contest with three rebounds.

Gilchriest knocked down a pair of buckets to rack up four points on the night, while McFadden added three, along with four boards. Forkner led the way on the glass with five rebounds, along with two points and an assist.

Hayden Hill had two points, two rebounds and the team’s only two steals, while Bailey Powell had two points and two assists. Rounding out the scoring, Brandon Hill had two points and two rebounds.

The Doggers fell to 2-18 on the year, which put them third in the 1A Southeast standings for the regional tournament this weekend. The Doggers’ first action of the tournament comes Thursday against Hulett at 1:30 p.m. in Douglas.
